Let’s Get Back on Track
Ezekiel 36:22-32
Throughout the Old Testament we find a wonderful relational refrain where God reestablishes the covenant with the people of Israel. In various forms God says, “you will be my people and I will be your God.” It is God’s way of saying, “Let’s get back on track!”
The phrase typically comes into play after the people have gone astray and stand in need of some instruction. God provides that instruction at the most interesting moments. In the 36th Chapter of Ezekiel the people are coming back into relationship with God so the Lord welcomes them home with a wonderful promise. [/one_half]

God says, I will give you a new heart. I will remove anything that looks like a heart of stone and give you a heart of pure flesh. And best yet, I will put my Spirit into your new heart!
We know that the transforming love of God can change everything in our lives. God brings the powers of renewal that allows our lives to return to a right relationship with God. When we say yes to the promise of God we also receive the blessing of a new heart that is motivated and empowered by the Spirit of the Lord. Then and then alone, can we fully hear the invitation from Ezekiel 36:28…you will be my people and I will be your God.
Come Lord, transform our hearts and welcome us into a deeper relationship with you as the transformed children of God. Amen
