Tuesday of Holy Week

I Corinthians 1:18-31

Our reading today reminds us of the wisdom of this week. But, as we have seen, wisdom comes with a cost. Today the cost is the cross but the wisdom also arises from the same image. I Corinthians 1:18 is actually the key passage for the entire book.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Wisdom often is born of pain. But wisdom leads us to another reality – righteousness and holiness.

Today the invitation is to simply spend some time considering the cross. Pray about the impact of the cross on the world and give thanks for the gift of the cross in your own life. For some, it is foolishness, but for those who believe, it is the pure and beautiful power of God.
