I love new beginnings, and it seems that fall is full of them. Today my boys started school. Matthew started 3rd grade and Jackson started Kindergarten. While other moms in Jackson’s class were having a hard time dealing with their kindergartener going to school for the first time, I was so happy for him. He is going to have so many amazing moments, meet so many new friends and have so many new and fun experiences. I am so grateful for this new beginning for him and know that God will bless his life through it.
I am also experiencing a new beginning of my own. For the past 12 years I have worked with youth and children. While I have loved every minute of it, I am excited to see where God leads me on this new journey as I become a pastor. And I am excited to service you in this new capacity, and trust God to continue to guide me through this new beginning.
One of my favorite verses in the Bible comes from Isaiah 43:19. It says “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” God is always at work, bringing new things before us that bring life into our lives. Are we ready to embrace the new beginning that is before us? Will we say yes to something new that will bring us out of our “desert”?
This is a great time to have a new beginning in your life as well! New Bible study groups and small groups are starting up, and I hope that you will join one and get connected. Not only will you be growing in your faith, but you will also be making new and wonderful connections to people who will support you in your faith journey.
