Being a parent is hard work! I am not sure that I knew exactly what I was signing up for when I became a mom. It has been the most amazing but challenging adventure I have ever taken on. Some days, I find that I am an amazing mom with all the patience and the love in the world. And then there are most days where I find that I am short on patience, short on love, short on energy, short on, well you get the picture. In confessing this, I am trusting that I am not the only parent in the world that has felt this way.
One of my saving graces is the Tuesday morning LOIS group, or the Mom’s Group that meets here from 9:30-11:30. During those two hours, I get to talk with other moms who are going through similar things, discuss how I am feeling and hear how I am not alone, and get re-centered in who God has called me to be as a mom. If you are a mom feeling alone, feeling tired, feeling frustrated, feeling desperate, then this is a great place for you.
Now, I know that not all of you are moms, and not all of you have kids who are young, but we all are going through our own stuff. And when going through the stuff of life, I know that it is always better to be able to go through it with other people. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!” God did not make us to go through the stuff of life alone! He wanted us to find people to travel with. I encourage you to find a Bible study or small group and get connected. Can’t find what you are looking for? Then lead! But whatever you do, don’t go it alone! Get connected and lean on the people around you to help you through what you are going through!
