Fall is my favorite time of the year! Finally, we have a reprieve from the hot temperatures… the leaves are changing into a beautiful masterpiece… the crock pot meals start making my house smell wonderful. Love love love fall! Of course, it is also the time to start preparing for the cold dark months that are to follow. We get our yard ready, we start to prepare our house outside and in… the sweaters make their way out of my crawl space and the shorts get put in it… even my car gets the winter kit put in just in case we get stranded somewhere.
Throughout our lives, we have warm summer seasons where everything is fun and warm and a vacation. And then we have the winter seasons where life is quiet and cold and dark. How do we prepare our lives for the cold dark seasons? Do we get so caught up in the summer fun that we forget to prepare? Or do we build on our faith and prayer life and know that there are many seasons in our lives?
No matter what season of life we are in… whether it is a summer season of joy and sunshine, or a winter season filled with cold and darkness, God is our refuge. “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” (Deuteronomy 33:27) May you prepare for those winter months and remember that God is always your refuge and your strength!
